When I finished the deck last year, I didn't have a dime left for patio furniture. I still don't. At least, I have too many other things that take priority over patio furniture, and I have been searching on Craigslist for something affordable. Finally I gave up, because any patio table that was big enough for 4 chairs was also being listed for hundreds of dollars.

I am not a fan of building furniture, because I don't have enough patience and I hate the kind of tedious detail work that furniture requires. But I found THESE PLANS and I decided to go for it. Mainly because it looked like I could do it with just my miter saw and a drill, and it would only take me a couple of hours.

The plans called for cedar decking, but I didn't want to spend the $$ for cedar. These are just standard grade treated deck boards and 2X4's. The green plastic chairs are from Wal-Mart.  I already had the umbrella and it's a little too big, but I need the shade!

My kids are out of state for spring break, and I've decided to make the best of it. I have my pomegranate margarita mix, my blender, and I'm going to be sitting on my deck this week, soaking up the sun and the SILENCE.

  1. Did you know that gold acrylic paint stencils really well onto treated wood like that? Just ask the deck addition my husband built after I put a big old fleur-de-lis on it.

I like your table. A lot!

Katy it's perfect and you appreciate it even more knowing that you built it rather than bought it. Ana White has tons of plans for outdoor furniture when you decide to add to your collection. Enjoy the piece and quiet and your drink!

  3. This is a wonderful patio table, I have a metal/glass one and cant stand it, I want to make a long wooden table so my whole family can sit together for barbecues! Thanks for sharing this, I'd love it if you could link this up at my party

I think it will look more gorgeous if you furnish or paint it with dark color. It just my humble opinion :) But, your patio table is good enough. Looks natural...

Welcome to my three ring circus. Cake? Tequila? Pardon me while I cut this lumber and yell at my kids for the 100th time --
